The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs at Garissa University is the head of the Academic and Student Affairs Division. This division popularly referred to as ASA is one of the two functional organs of Garissa University. The other is the Division of Finance Administration and Planning (FAP)ASA houses the Institute of Peace & Security studies and a number of Directorates; including Directorate of Examination & Timetabling, Directorate of Postgraduate Research linkages & extension, Directorate of Quality Assurance and Directorate of Privately Sponsored Students. The division also houses School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Pure &Applied Sciences, School of Business & Economics and School of Education, besides the key offices of the Registrar (ASA) and Dean of Student. It is responsible for the Admission of students, delivery of the appropriate academic programs, Examination and finally Certification. We at ASA strive to meet all the demands of our customers both internal (students) and external (parents). Through our institute, Directorates and Schools, ASA prides itself in the provision of best services possible.
The present DVC Academic and Student Affairs is Prof. Irura Ng'ang'a, Doctor of Philosophy in Planning - Maseno University (2011), Master of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship - Moi University (2003), National Diploma in Business Management - The Kenya Institute of Management (1996), Master of Science in Forest Industries Technology - University College North Wales (1993), Graduate Diploma in Timber Technology- Bucks College in United Kingdom (UK) (1990). Diploma in Industrial Education- Kenya Technical Teachers College (1986). Over 30 years’ experience in Teaching/Administration. In addition, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Student Affairs) chairs a number of academic committees of Senate.
